Anantha R. Krishnan is a celebrated Indian-American mridangam exponent, composer, and educator — the grandson and disciple of legendary Palghat R. Raghu. He began training at age five and performed his first concert at seven, going on to win the Best Mridangist Prize from the Music Academy, Madras, a record five times in six years. He holds a B.A. from Dartmouth College and an MFA in Electronic Music and Percussion from Mills College, and was the first mridangam artist to perform at Carnegie Hall's Shape of Jazz series. He is on the faculty of A.R. Rahman's KM Music Conservatory, Chennai, and is the recipient of the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar (2021) for Contemporary Music.
