B.K. Anantha Ram

Vidwan B.K. Anantha Ram is a Bangalore-based Karnatic flautist who has been giving concerts for over four decades in leading sabhas and music festivals within and outside Karnataka. He holds the titles Kanchi Kaamakoti Peeta Aasthaana Vidwan and Kalaabhushana Flute Vidwan, is a graded artiste of All India Radio and Doordarshan, and is an empanelled artiste of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations. He trained under C.M. Maduranath, B.N. Suresh, Anoor Ramakrishna, M.R. Doraswamy, Padma Bhushan Dr. N. Ramani, Dr. R.K. Srikantan and R.S. Ramakanth, and is the son of the veteran vocalist Smt. A. Rajamma Keshavamurthy. In 1998 he founded the Vamshi Academy of Music Trust in Rajajinagar, Bangalore, where he is Managing Trustee; the academy teaches flute, veena and vocal music and hosts a week-long Karthik Music Festival every November. He has performed at Mysore Dasara, the Hampi Festival, Sri Sringeri Sharada Peetam and Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam, and holds a Senior Fellowship from the Culture Department, Government of India.
