A rhythmic Hindusthani vocal form performed in Dhamar taal of 14 beats, traditionally associated with the festival of Holi and devotional themes of Lord Krishna. Rooted in the Dhrupad tradition, Dhamar is characterised by powerful vocal projection, spiritual gravity, and a meditative exploration of the raga before the composed section is presented. It demands exceptional breath control and a deep understanding of raga grammar within a strongly rhythmic framework.
