Jayant Kumar Das

Jayant Kumar Das is an A grade Hindustani sitar artist empanelled with Akashvani (All India Radio) Bengaluru, on its rolls since 2013, and also holds A grade in Hindustani surbahar and A grade in Hindustani rudra veena; he is a graded AIR artist on all three instruments. Based in Bengaluru, Karnataka, he trained under Ustad Vilayat Khan and Ustad Imrat Khan and belongs to the Etawah (Imdadkhani) gharana, playing in the vocal-derived Vilayatkhani gayaki style. He holds a doctorate in music, has represented India as a cultural delegate in the USA and Europe, and runs a school in Bengaluru, keeping alive the traditional Dhrupad-based surbahar and rudra veena repertoire.
