Jayateerth Mevundi

Pandit Jayateerth Mevundi (born 1972) is a celebrated Hindustani classical vocalist of the Kirana Gharana, hailing from Hubli, Karnataka. He trained under Sangeet Ratna Pt. Arjunsa Nakod and later under Pt. Shripati Padegar, a disciple of the legendary Pt. Bhimsen Joshi. He has been honoured with prestigious awards including the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar from the Sangeet Natak Akademi (2011) and the Young Maestro Award presented by President Abdul Kalam in 2007. An A-Top graded artist of All India Radio, he has performed at major festivals including Sawai Gandharva Sangeet Mahotsav and Tansen Samaroh. He effortlessly transitions from khyal to thumri to abhang with equal mastery.
