Kala Ramnath

Kala Ramnath is a leading Hindustani violin exponent of the Mewati Gharana and a recipient of the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award (2016). Born into a distinguished multi-generational violin family that includes N. Rajam and T. N. Krishnan and trained in the Carnatic tradition in her early years, she became a disciple of Pandit Jasraj. She has also received the Rashtriya Kumar Gandharva Samman (2008) and the Pandit Jasraj Gaurav Puraskar (1999), has given numerous global fusion and solo concerts including on the Grammy-nominated Miles from India project, and has been praised by Jazzwise magazine.
