Manjula Surendra

Dr. Manjula Surendra is an A grade Carnatic veena artist empanelled with Akashvani (All India Radio) Bengaluru, on its rolls since 2008, representing the traditional Mysore school of veena. She began veena at age seven under Vidushi Gyanambal, trained with Vidwan Mysore C. Krishnamurthy on Karnataka State and Central research scholarships, and pursued advanced study under Vidwan D. Balakrishna (son of Padma Bhushan Dr. Mysore V. Doreswamy Iyengar). She holds a PhD in music from Bangalore University and taught postgraduate students there for about a decade; she has performed in national and South Zone concerts and on Doordarshan, and later joined the Singapore Indian Fine Arts Society (SIFAS) as a senior tutor. Based in Bengaluru, Karnataka.
