M.K. Saraswathi

M.K. Saraswathi is a Top grade Carnatic veena artist empanelled with Akashvani (All India Radio) Bengaluru, on its rolls since 2010, having transferred to the Bengaluru station from Mysore, where she is based in Karnataka. A top-grade artiste of both AIR and Doordarshan, she represents the Mysore Veena lineage tracing through Veena Venkatagiriyappa back to Veena Seshanna, and received advanced training from Dr. Gowri Kuppuswamy (a disciple of M.L. Vasanthakumari) and the vainika M.J. Srinivasa Iyengar. Her honours include the Karnataka Kalashri (2006) from the Karnataka Sangeetha Nrithya Academy, a Senior Fellowship from the Government of India (1999), and the Vainika Brahma title (2014), and she has trained several younger musicians who have become graded AIR and DD artistes.
