Prakash Sontakki

Prakash Sontakke (also spelt Sontakki) is an A grade Hindustani Hawaiian/slide guitar artist empanelled with Akashvani (All India Radio) Bengaluru, on its rolls since 2009. Based in Bengaluru, Karnataka, he belongs to the Gwalior gharana and comes from a family of Hindustani classical musicians: his father Dr R. B. Sontakke was a senior disciple of Pt Omkarnath Thakur and his mother Dr Mani Sontakke a disciple of Pt Lalmani Mishra. Regarded as one of the very few musicians from Karnataka playing the Hindustani slide guitar, he has given thousands of concerts, been featured on Grammy-winning albums, and is known for fusing Hindustani classical music with jazz, blues and world genres.
