Sumith Nayak

Sumith Sudhakar Naik (commonly spelled Sumith Nayak) is a highly accomplished Indian Hindustani classical tabla virtuoso and music educator based in Bengaluru, Karnataka. Hailing originally from Kochi, Kerala, he was introduced to the aesthetics of percussion at the age of ten under the guidance of Vidwan Naveen Pai. To systematically pursue his musical calling, he moved to Bengaluru and underwent rigorous advanced training under the tutelage of the renowned tabla maestro Dr. Udayraj Karpur. Academically versatile, he holds a Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering alongside a Master's Degree in Tabla from the Dr. Gangubai Hangal Music and Performing Arts University in Mysore. Highly sought after for Saath-Sangat (accompaniment), he has performed on prestigious national platforms alongside stalwarts such as Ustad Faiyaz Khan, Pt. Venkatesh Kumar, Pt. Jayteerth Mevundi, and Pt. Arun Khashalkar. A highly decorated broadcast artist, he was officially elevated to a prestigious 'A' Grade in Tabla by Prasar Bharati (All India Radio / Akashvani). Alongside active concert tours, he serves as a dedicated music faculty member at the Mallya Aditi International School in Bengaluru.
