Uppalapu Srinivasu

Padma Shri Uppalapu Srinivasu (U. Srinivas) was a legendary Carnatic mandolin maestro who single-handedly established the mandolin as a mainstream classical Carnatic instrument. A child prodigy who began performing at the age of nine, he dazzled audiences worldwide with his lightning-fast fingers and deep Carnatic scholarship. His contribution to expanding the vocabulary of Carnatic instrumental music is immeasurable, and his recordings remain timeless treasures.
