    About

Chowdiah Memorial Hall is one of Bengaluru's most iconic cultural venues, located in the historic Malleshwaram neighbourhood. Built in 1980 and administered by the Academy of Music, it was constructed as a tribute to the legendary violin maestro Tirumakudalu Chowdiah. The building itself is uniquely shaped like a giant seven-stringed violin, reportedly the only structure of its kind in the world. The air-conditioned hall seats 1000 guests comfortably (up to 1550 in floating arrangement) and is equipped with modern acoustics, computerised lighting with floodlights and spotlights, and a powerful sound system with full power backup. It is the premier venue for plays, dance recitals, classical music concerts, fashion shows, and cultural competitions in Bengaluru.
