Debapriya Thakur

Debapriya Thakur is a distinguished Hindustani Classical Sitar artist from Ranchi, Jharkhand, belonging to the renowned Bishnupur Gharana. He received his initial training from his late father and guru Shri Prashanta Thakur and is currently undergoing advanced taalim under eminent sitar maestro Shri Samanwaya Sarkar. An A-Grade Artist of All India Radio and Doordarshan, he is a Gold Medalist in the All India Radio Music Competition (1999) and has been conferred the title 'Surmani' by Sur Singar Samsad, Mumbai. He has performed at prestigious festivals and venues across India including NCPA Mumbai, India International Centre, Habitat World, Subah-e-Banaras, Sankat Mochan Sangeet Sammelan, and numerous cultural festivals.
